That's why I call myself an atheist. There is no point in entertain the question anymore. Otherwise, I'd have to consider every single belief as "probable", which makes no sense.

To the person who said that being an "agnostic" is only "being unsure about the existence of god" all I can say is that he has no clue from where the word came from and what it means.

Bye,

Okay, I am agnostic. I just can't cross the fence and say I am 100% sure there is no higher being ever. I am also agnostic about an alien race possibly seeding the planet with life. I think these things unlikely but not provable. I certainly don't think that if there is a higher power they are necessarily anything like any of the man made religions have portrayed. I may be 99% convinced that the probability is aganist it but how can anyone say they are sure if there really is no proof. I think if there is a higher power that they are entirely consistent with the physical and natural laws of the universe. Thomas Paine once wrote that if there was a God the true word would be that of all of creation (nature) not written words in a book authored by men. I think we have enough evidence to be able to dismiss pixies, fairies, dragons, etc...

I am agnostic about everything except my own consciousness and it's content. So are you. One can present logical problems with making an existence claim (positive or negative) about any other "thing", since we do not have direct access to anything else in experiece (observation), which is a required for something to be evidence in the first place.

Ummm....

Ok, Agnostic means they believe in god but they don't believe in organized religion. it has to do with religion.

What do pixies, fairies, hobgoblins, dragins, celestial teapots, etc, have to do with religion?

Now, if you want to ask the real question about whether people believe in them... most people will tell you no, agnostic or not. They have nothing at all to do with religion and everything to do with myth and legend. Rather like the myth of the Christian god.

I am atheist, this means I don't believe there is a God, simple enough isn't it?
However I am getting fed up of people who denigrate the name our Holy Celestial teapot!
As our Prophet The Holy Tea Leaf (pbuh) wrote in his London Holy book Chapter 1374, verse 122 " They who mocketh the Holy name of the beloved Celestial Tea Pot, shall perish in an ever lasting stew mash"!!!!.
Have you no fear?
But all is not lost, if you send a suitable donation to myself at Tea pot house London England I will pray for you, (and you will of course receive one dozen Holy tea bags)!
Always remember mocking the Holy Celestial Teapot is as bad a sin as being a coffee drinker!
Peace be with you , remember to send your donation, (you can be forgiven).

An agnostic believes in anything that they feel convinced about so if they see a ghost, for example, I imagine they will believe in ghosts after that.

People have unique belief systems and I have respect for an agnostic. They are open minded and just want some proof.

There is evidanvce that a Jesus DID exis and he DID die on a cross but was he the Messiah? Thats based on faith. You are right. Agnostic and Athiest I mix up. Im just spiritual, believe in God and other things. Im open to what the truth may be. Every religion is based on faith and a group of people who believe whatever is told to them by their preacher, rabbi, whatever.

Good point. As an atheist, I have more respect for the hardcore believer than for the fence sitting agnostic.

The great difference is that nobody is trying to manipulate you through any of those creatures. The reluctance to believe in god is the reluctance to be manipulate in his name. When a whole industry is raised around one of those characters, in order to gain power over your uncertainties and fears, we can discuss your question again.

It does seem to be a strange stance, doesn't it?

I'm atheist, and for exactly the same reason, I don't believe in any of those things either.
