I am making a gift for my boyfriend, i am taking a quote that he enjoys from the bible and putting it on paper and decorating and framing it.. the quote is Matthew 4:4. the entire line reads,
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God'"
now if i wanted to use this for the purpose that i am, would you suggest writing the entire line, or where would you have it start? i just want it to sound and be right.

I would write it as
and Jesus answered,
"It is written: Man doesn ot live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes from the mouth of God"

That's a personal choice. If it were me, I would just put, "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." And then I would write "Matthew 4:4." The "Jesus answered" part is referring--obviously--to a question that you're not putting on the paper, so I would cut that, and the "It is written" part...well, I don't know. While Jesus is referring to something specific, namely the Law, it seems, in the context of a framed picture, to be redundant. Just in this context. I mean, obviously it's in no way redundant why and how Jesus said it, but for the purposes of a framed picture, it just seems weird.
Anyway, I guess I'm not much help here. To sum up: Don't include, "Jesus answered," and perhaps pray about whether to include, "It is written."

Hi, I would suggest putting the Book, chapter, and verse in the framing with the words themselves. This would allow those who don't know the verse to see where it is found in the Bible. I also find it is a good reminder for me to help in finding that verse when needed. My Father in Law was a minister and that is the way he loved to have it done. A personal suggestion is to add a pic above the verse that fits the verse well. I have done this with verses my wife and I have hanging around the house.
Hope this helps & God Bless,
Chris

Why not use the entire verse to which Jesus was referring? It's Deuteronomy 8:3 and reads:
"So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD."
Sometimes, going back to the first usage of a Biblical passage enables us to glean even more meaning from it than we currently have. In this case, we learn that God needs us to be humble FIRST before we even attempt to live off His bread. And, as we all know, God greatly treasures our humility.
Peace.

i have a better verse:
Eze 23:46 So I, the LORD God, now say to these sisters: I will call together an angry mob that will abuse and rob you.
Eze 23:47 They will stone you to death and cut you to pieces; they will kill your children and burn down your houses.
