i've had my braces for 3 years, and haven't gotten them off yet cause of the fact that imn ot wearing my rubberbands

Now i understand these rubberbands make your overbite better, but when i look at myself in the mirror, put myu teeth together, it makes me look like a monkey, cause my jaw moves up so far it looks so gay. When I have my rubberbands on, it pulls my teeth foward and if I make my loose eaze up, the rubberbands will make me look like a monkey. Now I don't want to wear them if their going to do this, cause I dotn want to look weird. Is this true?

Is this true?Is this true?Is this true?Is this true? DID THIS HAPPEN TO YOU?

I had to have those rubber bands as well when I had my braces. They're a pain to wear because you can only open your mouth so far and they tend to snap on you every so often.
BUT! They DO help with your overbite. Despite the fact that they make you "look like a monkey", if you wear them now, they really help with the process so you can get your braces off sooner.
Plus ... if you don't wear them, there's a big chance you'll get stuck with headgear to correct your overbite.
And trust me ... having 2 little elastics in your mouth that make you look like a monkey for a while is BY FAR a whole lot better than walking around looking like you're trying to harbour an extraterrestrial signal. ;)
Wear your elastics, it'll be over before you know it.

I tell ya what, have the jaw surgery to fix your bite...then think back and looking like a monkey was not so bad.....
And I bet nobody thinks you look like that but you. Don't be so self concious. You look fine and before long you will look even better when the braces come off
I had the surgery and wore the bands....It never was that bad......Have fun with them, get colors and DO NOT WORRY

You are paying good money for an orthodontist's services. He is an expert. Ask him about your concerns. I have paid more than $10k for two sets of braces for my boys. Their teeth are beautiful and they will not have the problems with bite and jaw pain that I have experienced. My youngest had to wear bands for a long time, he looks great. They were annoying while he wore them, but it was well worth the aggravation.

Your parents are paying a fortune for those braces and you should cooperate and do what the doctor says and you will definitely get them off quicker. Your friends know that you have to go through this process as they probably have them too, so buck up and help yourself get out of those things. If you don't do it right, the effort is all down the drain.
