Okay, we had a dog and a cat, and we have ended up having to get rid of them because we cannot stand the fleas. But Unfortunately that has not helped. We have Bombed the House with Raid Bombs, and the Foggers, and along with spraying the floors with 4 in 1 house spray. But The Fleas are still here. We have used up to 6 Bombs in our 3 bedroom house, and 3 more in the basement. AND THE FLEAS ARE STILL HERE!!!!!!!! I need some advice because I cannot deal with these Damn Fleas anymore. My Wife and kids are being eaten alive. I am ready to burn down the house.

Bombs are not very efeective and here is why..They go up and come down in isolated areas. Fleas survive best in dark areas such as under couches and other things like tile and hardwood floors. Purcahse a premise spray, vacccuum everywhere..This vaccumming stimulates the flea eggs to hatch. Then follow that up by spraying the premise spray on not only the open areas, but behind and under things and the tile and hardwood floors too. Wash the animals bedding well too...

You are not breaking the life cycle. You have to bomb once and then bomb again in about 10 to 14 days. Read the back of the can and see what it says. I found that the stuff you purchase in the store is not as good as the stuff I got from my vet. It worked better than anything I used. The fleas you killed today have laid eggs and those eggs are usually unaffected by the bombs. When those eggs hatch, you have a wonderful new hatch of more fleas.

You may have to have a professional bug killer come to the house. They will know the life cycle of the fleas and come and spray accordingly.

Its too bad that you got rid of your pets. Applying Frontline Plus to them once a month would have taken care of the problem and you would not now be over run by fleas and would still have your critters..

We went through the same thing and even lost our dog because of it she died of loss of blood the fleas were so many the vet said the best thing was to put her down. Anyways we had fleas BAD, this is what I did I would vacuum everyday sometimes 3-4 times a day. After I would get done vacuuming I would take out the bowl thing on the vacuum and pour out the dirt and fleas and burn it. Now if you use bags in your vacuum just change the bags every few days and burn the bag. Go to a local coop where you buy feed and grain and tell them you need something for fleas outside. This product will work that crap from Wal MArt wont work its too weak. Ok get a 2 gallon sprayer and mix it up go by the label, so much water to so many teaspoon chemical. Spray the inside of your house the floor especially and spray the outside too. Now do not stay in that house for at least one night leave all the windows shut. When you come home let the house air out open all windows and doors, then vacuum and mop to get up the residue. Wash all your bedding in HOT water. Continue to vacuum quite often and eventually you will kill them all. Take it from me I know, we had them so bad that when we would leave our house we would have to pull over on side of the road to shake off the fleas. Good Luck I hope you get rid of them.

The bombs do not kill the flea pupae in the house, so they keep hatching out. Flea life cycle is about 2 weeks so you have to repeat insecticide treatment in 2 weeks, sometimes again in 4 weeks, while stopping the introduction of ALL new fleas (put frontline or advantage on your pets). Vaccuuming VERY thoroughly before spraying should help, too. I recommend a handheld spray insecticide like Vet Kem Area Treatment because bombs just send the stuff up and it falls down - you need to spray under the furniture & sofa cushions because fleas will just hide there. More insecticide is not better, it has to be applied effectively.

I went through the same thing and had to end up hiring an exterminator. They are rather expensive, probably around $150 - $200 for the first visit. Then you will need them to come back at least 3 more times at probably $50 each. Good Luck. I found a flea on my dog the other day and freaked out. I know what a horrible problem fleas are once they get into your home.

I to have had a flea problem. What I swear by is Raid's Flea Ender Plus. It isn't a bomb; it is sprayed directly on the carpet. It is the one in the purple can. I'm guessing they still make it. It works and it works quickly. It kills the eggs too.

Bombs do NOT work unless you remove every bit of furniture before bombing. I would suggest that you get a professional exterminator in to solve the problem..are you 100% sure that it is fleas you are dealing with?

Getting rid of the pets didn't solve the problem because in reality they didn't create the problem. The fleas are apparently in the enviornment and are being brought in from outside by you and/or your family. I would suggest to also treat your yard in addition to your house.

You really need to go to the vets to get something to treat the house with (I don't know what you have in the states, but advantage, acclaim or indorex are all good). I know it might cost a bit more to get something from the vets but you have to get something that you know will definitely kill them, as flea eggs can live in the carpet for up to 2 years.

Good Luck!

Shampoo your carpets and after they dry get carpet freshener with flea killer (I can't remember the brand name but it is sold near the flea items and cat toys). Use lice spray on your furniture. Those flea bombs never seem to work.

Absolute cure for fleas. Mix kerosene with a touch of naphalene. Stir in crumbled up bits of styrofoam till they totally dissolve, creating a viscous mixture. Ladle mixture into a glass container. Drill a small hole in the lid, carefully placing a daub of wax in the hole, insert a large firecracker into the lid from the bottomside. Placing the firecracker in the mixture, screw the lid onto the jar tightly. Place jar in the middle of the floor, light the fuse and run like hell. Fleas will be gone before the fire department arrives.
