My friends are bad influences and i started to get pissed easier and now I I'm starting to curse occasionally. What's a good way to stop cursing?

It's quite difficult to stop cursing, actually. I also went through that phase at the same age, actually! It's good that you actually think about it. It's the first step. And I agree: it's often because you like the vocabulary to express yourself properly that you end up cursing. But if you think about it each time you curse, you'll probably stop after a while. First, try not to do it in front of adults. I know my mum wouldn't allow me to curse in front of her, so I didn't. Well, tried to, at least. After a while, it will become a habit. You'll get over it if you really want to.

What you can do is think of words or expressions you could use instead. After a while, you'll use them instead of the curse words.

Only you can control what comes out of your mouth. You can't blame something you control on someone else's behavior.

It's a bit of peer pressure though - you curse to be like them.

You already know they are bad influences and I'm willing to bet you know the solution too... Try finding some better influences to hang out with for a while (and without cursing of course).

It could also help if you "re-train" your brain by saying things without curses in front of a mirror. For that to work, you need to say the same sentences and in the same tone, but with no curses. The point here is to get the newer memory in your brain and to reinforce that memory each time. Be patient - I've heard it takes 21 days to create a habit. I won't say it will go completely away, but you can control it better. It will be more instinctive not to curse and you will choose not to in places you would've before.

Everyone goes through this stage. Think of it this way:
What if you were watching a speech the President was giving and instead of saying "We're going to attempt to control the situation in the Middle East," he said "We want to f*ck over those sons of b*tches?"

It would make him sound ignorant and stupid. That's how you (or anyone else) sound when you curse. You wouldn't want a teacher, government official, of family member to curse around you. You'd lose respect for that person.

I promise, if you decided to stop cursing, even your friends will be proud of you. Yes, even the ones that curse. It's easier to give into the peer pressure, like the pressure to curse. More people will respect and admire your strength in your decision to not conform.

You can stop cursing right now by having control over yourself. People that curse are considered to be less intelligent than other people. You don't want that image. Also people that curse are thought to be low class. None of this sounds appealing does it, so just stop cursing right now.

Everyone does it from time to time, even me and sometimes my kids. What I tell my kids is not to do it when people can overhear it. I was also pleased to say that the last time my 8 year old daughter had a very loud altercation with some one who had said something nasty to my 12 year old son, she did not use any improper language.

All it takes is a little thought from you and you won't swear.

If you read a lot you will take in lots of words that you can use in cases of emergency without resorting to cursing.

And by the way, don't use the word pissed. People use it to mean upset without realising how strong a swear word it is.

Just simply stop doing it. No one makes you curse. Listen when others speak and hearing them cursing should be enough of a determent. Cursing sounds horrible and illiterate. Find some other words to use, broaden your vocabulary. Good luck and God bless

You might want to find other friends. I know that's hard to do when you are 13, but they sound like losers. Winners don't curse- so choose to be a winner.

you don't have to stop hanging around with yours friends to stop cursing all you need to realize is that it sounds bad after a while. if you can complete a sentence without the f word you know you can stop. 1st step to recovery is acknowledging the problem.
