i am leaving the state, and would like to take a taxi to newark penn station, any idea how much that would cost me?? i live in jersey city

My friend, don't even bother taking a taxi on New Year Eve, because you will get stuck in traffic, and I'm not kidding. The best way to get to the Grand Hyatt from EWR will be by public transit, which is is cheap. Step 1: take the Airtrain from the terminal to the Newark-Liberty International Airport train station. Step 2: at the Newark-Liberty International Airport train station, purchase a one way NJ Transit ticket from EWR to Penn Station New York and take any New York City-bound (eastbound) train from there to New York Penn Station. A one way ticket on NJ Transit from EWR to New York Penn Station will cost you $15. Step 3: at Penn Station, follow the directional sign leading you to the subway and take the uptown (northbound) #1, 2, or 3 subway lines (Red Line on the subway map), which will take you from there to Times Square. Step 4: at Times Square, transfer upstairs to the 42nd Street Shuttle (Black Line). Take the Shuttle going eastbound from Times Square to Grand Central. The fare on the subway is $2.25 and the transfer between subway lines is free. Please note: when boarding the Shuttle train at Times Square, please be aware of the gap between the platform and the train. Step 5: at Grand Central, exit the subway in to the terminal. Once in the terminal, exit the terminal and walk a short distance to the hotel. The Grand Hyatt is located right next to door to Grand Central Terminal. I hope this information is very helpful.
