My dad is mildly allergic to fragrance-his eyes water and his throat constricts a bit. I recieve many gifts of lotions, soaps, etc that include fragrance. I try to tell people about his condition, but the gifts keep coming. I enjoy wearing scents, but I cannot or it would affect his wellbeing. How to get people to stop wasting their hard earned money on something i cannot enjoy?

Well dont try them do it for your dad.
And lotions soap etc are what alot of people give on celebrations because they cant think of anythings else or they know what you like. But try telling them again when they meet you and if that dosent work. dont put to much fragrance on, one spray will do.

You can always recycle the gifts you can't use. Some people object to this practice and some don't care if the gift becomes a gift for someone else.

unfortunately many people do not understand other peoples illnesses or allergies because they don't suffer with them. My husband and sons have allergies and i cant use anything scented. its a small price to pay for another persons well being.

Obviously, your friends aren't listening to you. What you might want to do is collect all of your lotions and perfumes and donate them to your local homeless shelter or battered women's shelter. They would probably love them and would appreciate your generosity. That in turn would make you feel happy that you helped someone in need.
