you are going to lose your debate horribly. First off, it is spelled Muslim not moslem, and it is spelled equal not iqual. Your uneducated question offends me too much for me to answer.

The culture 1400 years ago (before Islam) was very unfair with women. We are talking about culture here not religion.

Islam was the first to enforce women rights. Islam with it's power as a religion was successful in changing the culture.

In the late 19th century and early 20th century, many countries began to grant women some of their rights. This means that women were treated unfairly before that every where. What make you believe that Islam deprivate women of their rights that some Islamic countries are not yet into this period of feminism movements.

It's a cultural issue not religious one.

I will agree with onewhosub----------so many of the things you hear about how Muslim women are treated are cultural and not from the religion. Muslim women were given many more rights a long time before the women of the west were, by Islam.

Its Muslim, please don't use such an ugly harsh word.

OK then. What are women's rights in Islam?

In a truly Islamic society women have the following rights in Islam:

The right and duty to obtain education.

The right to have their own independent property.

The right to work to earn money if they need it or want it.

Equality of reward for equal deeds.

The right to participate fully in public life and have their voices heard by those in power.

The right to provisions from the husband for all her needs and more.

The right to negotiate marriage terms of her choice.

The right to obtain divorce from her husband, even on the grounds that she simply can't stand him.

The right to keep all her own money (she is not responsible to maintain any relations).

The right to get sexual satisfaction from her husband.

and more...

I know very little about musim women.

I have heard that they must always keep themselves covered. I have heard that in some countries they cannot go outside the house alone, or attend schools and colleges. That makes me wonder who the nurses, waitresses, and bank clerks are in those countries.

These are the women I like best...they are what the women have to be: dressed normally, loving and respecting their husbands etc.
