Hahaha...thanks, that was a really funny and cute story. I have a cat too and I'm just crazy about her.
If the mother cat lets you touch and play with her kittens, then that's fine. It means she trusts you. But don't attempt to ever move her kittens to another location. Mother cats really hate that. If she catches you a few times doing that, she'll hide her kittens from you altogether.
When my cat gets annoyed with me, she meows too. But it's so darn cute when she does that I tend to hug and kiss her more.

My cat constantly cusses me. He's very particular about everything and lets me know when something isn't to his liking. I accept it though, because I'm kind of the same way. I just fuss back. He's the one that missed the litter box and made the mess, not me. It's natural, especially if you have a talkative cat.
I suggest apologizing. Seriously. Cats hold grudges.
I wouldn't move the kittens again. They'll start walking around soon, getting into everything, and you'll miss the days they were in the closet. Make sure that you socialize them though. They're old enough now that you can go in and sit next to the closet and pet them. Stop of course if Mama gets too upset because mother animals will do crazy things if they think their babies are in danger.

How cute. I'm sure my cat is not saying nice words when she meows and meows when she wants a treat. Actually it's not a treat. It's a remedy for "Hair Ball". She is 99% Persian with the long thick fur, so I have to give her a small amount 3 times a week. She knows where I keep it. Every morning after her feeding, she sits in front of that cabinet door, looks at me and rants and raves if I don't get the remedy out. It must taste awfully good. I have bought her treats and she will have nothing to do with them. But... she sure loves that remedy.
Everyone that has answered before me has already scolded you for disturbing mama's den for her babies. So I won't. Although they are on the right track.... lol... we learn something new everyday :-)

I have had my cats meow at me when they want food. Or get mouthy when we say something to them.
In your case you disturbed a nursing cat and her kittens. A cat is very protective of her kittens until about 4-6 weeks, that is the time frame for when they are weened off their mother. In about a week put a bowl of kitten food, water, and a litter box so that the kittens can start getting off their mother's milk. Until the are independant of their mother, leave the kittens where they are at.

Yes. I have a boy now who gives me heck because I'm not sitting down for him to come and sit with me. He will sit in the middle of the living room floor and just meow and meow until I sit down. I think your girl was letting you know that those are her babies and you can't have them just yet. She is probably telling you that she has got it under control and doesn't need your help. Cats.....aren't they great. Looked at pics of your girl, shes beautiful. I bet she has cute babies.

Your Mommie Cat wants for you to put her and the kittens back into their little den. She was begging you. Her kittens are too small to be around lots of people. But then they have to get use to you.

She doesn't understand why YOU don't understand that she is the mother here and knows what's best for her kittens. Her expression if one of great puzzlement and she wants you to understand her position.
The living room is a little public and possibly a little too chaotic for her to nurse her kittens in peace.

she was upset with you for disturbing her kittens. when she wants or needs you she'll come get you.
how would you feel if you had a baby and someone just walked in and took it away? you'd go crab at the person too for even longer than 5 minutes.
she's under enough stress of caring for the kittens, keeping herself healthy for them, feeding them, etc....she doesn't need you in there bothering her and adding stress to it all.

My cat had kittens in the closet too and I tried to take them out and she kept putting them back. They are proud of their babies so maybe she was just trying to let you know that they were her babies so it was okay for them to be in the house. When my cat was ready to take them out she brought them to me one by one and laid them in my lap.
