The household way is called "elbow grease". You work and work over the kitten with a flea comb four or five times a day. I would heat a mug of water in the micro to almost boiling, comb through the kitten and dip the comb in the hot water. The fleas die instantly. It would probably be best to give the kitten a brief bath with a dish soap like Dawn (only a drop or you will be rinsing him forever) A lot of fleas will drown in the water. You will still have to do the combing for a few days though.

The kitten should be going to the vet soon to start kitten shots and for a worming. At that time the vet can tell you if he is old enough to have Advantage or Frontline applied. That is the most effective way to keep them off the kitty permanently.

And NO kitten should be outside ever with the short days, rain and cold etc of wintertime. So he won't be picking up more fleas.

It doesn't take long for a flea infestation to take up a whole house. I would strongly suggest you talk to your vet.
However, Here's an alternative to commercial flea powders: Slice about six lemons, and pour boiling water over them( just enough to cover them). Let the water stand overnight, then strain the liquid into a spray bottle. Start at the back of the pet, and work toward the neck, making sure every inch of the pet is covered with the lemon-water spray. Cats may not be cooperative with the spraying , so in that case, daub on the solution with a cotton ball. Keep it out of the kittens eyes. Then use a comb to pick off fleas and flea dirt (poop).
A chemical solution would be to use part of frontline or other anti flea and tick. Read directions for age and animal. That stuff is greasy, and I never use the whole tube for my cats or dogs.

I have cats.. and when the fleas start they will just get more and more until you do something.. I find that the cheap drops dont work but spend a little it does sometimes you can go to a vet and they can sell it for one cat otherwise you might end up buying three months worth.. but I swear to this advantage drops .. your house can have fleas in it and put those drops on your cats back of neck and they will go away... but I do say if they are really bad also put a flea bomb off at the same time.. the drops are the greatest thing for fleas..............

About the only way i know how to get rid of the fleas without using a shampoo is to buy some flea spray or some other spray called RID. If the fleas have gotten in your furniture then you can always put moth balls out. they smell like crap but they run off any rodent insect or reptile you don't run around.

Putting garlic in the cats food is a good way to keep the fleas off. Use real garlic mince it up and just put a little in the cats food. It will take a few days before the fleas go away completly if the can already has them.

I think the best way is to put front line on the back of its neck. If it all ready has fleas ask a local vet or, I know this might sound weird , but mix lemon juice 50/50 water and put a little on your cat . But make sure your cat always has clean water.

Your suitable wager is to bathe her first, then reapply the flea gel. that is incredibly perfect, based on your explination. I too might fret approximately yet another flea stepping into her device and being re-contaminated. So, specific, i might bathe her, then reapply the flea scientific care. Double verify the learning on the packaging just to make confident that is risk-free. And as far as bathing her is going, toddler shampoo could artwork merely effective, even with the undeniable fact that throughout the time of pst shops or perhaps maximum retailers, you may get a shampoo designed for cats and canines that are for the removing of fleas and ticks. additionally, as quickly as you bathe her, the water will needless to say be grimy, yet do not panic if it turns pink. This befell with our cat while we first bathed her for fleas. We referred to as the vet in a panic, and the vet informed us that that is flea airborne dirt and mud (code for droppings), and that is merely effective that that occurs. while you're in touch approximately it, you are able to consistently look over her, and verify for any cuts or open wounds.

Take the kitten to the vet and have him give you something safe for the kitten. If the kitten is covered in fleas, it's likely that she also has worms.

Even though cats hate water, it won't hurt if you give it a bath and, I know this is gross, But, you can take the fleas off individually and kill them.
That being said, the shampoo may be your best bet.
