If the love has gone the the decent thing to do is to end it as gently as possible. Be honest - lying will hurt more in the long run. Honesty will allow you both to move on to better relationships having learned about yourselves in this one. It sounds like he is scared to move on with you - there is a chance he may even be secretly relieved if you end it. Good luck.

I would end it now. Your unhappy and he is happy, at least end it while he is happy. There is nothing worse than ending it full of arguments and hatred. You seem to respect him still too. There is nothing you can do about falling out of love with him, just break it to him softly, and before he buy you a Christmas present!

For the record, he seems scared of commitment.

it doesnt matter what he did to help you he wanted to do that at the time as relationships are about helping each other
im sure he must be seeing signs your not happy but there again why isnt he commited to you i know unemployment isnt yr fault but maybe hes as fed up with you as he has to pay for you on nights out all the time
you are probably bringing him down so it might be best to let him go

It seems clear that it is over for you. If you cannot tell you are leaving him because of your feelings for him why try a trial separation.

Just be honest with him. It's obvious that you're very unhappy, and need to end the relationship; do it now!
