5 years studying (unless you need to do a pre-med course for one year prior to this if you didn't get A levs in Chemistry, Biology and Physics) Then you will have to rotate around wards as a house officer/senior house officer for a couple of years. Then you can specialise. PS Note to Ange, I'm a nurse and believe me there are many many doctors who can't spell. A lot can't even write!!

Depends. Usually around 5 years, but then if you want to be a GP, a further 3 years on top of that.

5 years at medical school and then another 6 minimum to become a consultant. Its a long haul

In the case of some I have had the misfortune to have dealt with forever! and they are still no bl**ding good. Good doctors are not "made" but born.
