Hello. - For some cats.. in a round about way.. possibly.
I do not think as protective as a dog.

Have a nice day. :)

Yes I think so. My cat does not like anyone to get next to me. It might just be jealousy but, he is really protective. Also my cat has like a sixth sense when it comes to people. He usually is very cordial and runs to the living room when we have company so he can say hello then he goes back to whatever he was doing but, if someone comes in that is a real dork, grease-ball or something like that, he will start hissing and spitting and stuff. Very weird. He has done this a couple of times only but, it turns out he was right on the money.

Cats can be protective of their owners. When I was an infant, my parents were having some work done on the inside of their house, so there were workmen who were going in and out all the time. My mom had me in a playpen, and our cat Joe sat in front of my playpen the whole time carefully watching these guys. Even thouggh he was nervouse, he was going to make sure that no one was going to harm me.

yes!! i had a Siamese cat for many years. my back went out and i was in horrible pain. they took me to bed and call a ambulance. when they got there they could not touch me. the cat had got on my chest and was daring them to touch me. we are talking about a cat that loved every one. but she was convinced they were hurting me. if my son had not gotten her off of me so they could take me to the hospital i would still be there. she also did not let any one in the house while we were away. one time i ask a friend to come by and feed her and watch over the house while we were on vacation. the friend came in. the cat chased her right back out the door. so yes!! cats are very protective. at least she was. she lived for 20 yrs!! i truly miss her!!

Yes, everytime someone knocks on my door, rings my door bell, or walks past my house she growls and puffs up. It's completely natural for cats to protects their babies, so it is instinct to protect their caregiver/owner.

Yes - my cat used to attack my boyfriends (only the bad ones - not the good ones). Cats have also been known to alert owners to a fire, and attack intruders!

They can be, but when push comes to shove, the cat is going to protect himself.

Sure, some are. Most kind of see you as the boss cat so if there is trouble they expect you to deal with it or to have the good sense to hide like them. :)

i think that cats can sense things before they happen, when I went into labor my cat skeeter, aka pete, knew before I did, he wouldn't get off my lap for four hours, and then I went to the hospital... he helped me through it as crazy as it sounds.. i think my pete would protect me, i guess its all how you see it.. plus if you ever think of it this way your cat will always love you so he will always protect your heart.. awe... yeah ..
