Jews in Europe were for a long time barred from many occupations. The result was that for many money lending became the best way to make a living because Christianity prohibited lending money on interest to another Christian (although the Catholic Church did it a lot). The result was that people turned to the Jews for lending money.
Naturally people resented to pay back the loan. This is were these curses came from.

After Christianity was established as the dominant religion in Europe, money lending fell to the Jews as Christians felt that it was wrong. This continued throughout the middle ages well into the Renaissance and is the origin of this stereotype.

for three reasons
first, jews have historically been the victims of scapegoating and bias. during these period, negative stereotypes of jewish people were reinforced and entrenched.
second, jews have a history of emmigration, and immigrants tend to save every penny they can get their hands on because they usualy are fairly poor. to that effect, jews often established themselves by starting businesses - an endavor that requires financial discipline.
third, jews were for-profit money lenders at a time in history when the church forbade anyone from charging interest on loans. the interest was often very high.

Because people like blaming other races for problems. Face it if Jewish people were running the world, they wouldn't have been gathered up and killed in Nazi Germany where they madeup a larger portion of the population than they do now in any country.
I think the money thing comes from the fact that Jewish people were forced to be bankers and such in European society since these were considered "lowly" jobs since they involved money.

I don't know how it got started, but it seems to me that Jews have a genetic predisposition to become rich, or at least middle-class. A lot of the Jewish families I know live in the wealthier part of town, including my grandparents. (My family, meanwhile, is middle-class.) One of my friends asked me, "How come you never see Jews begging for money on the street?" I couldn't answer.

The story is: it's a racial stereotype.
Jews historically have been involved in banking, hence the greedy business.
