Is there any website that I can take a quiz, and it will give me some ideas as to what religion would be best suited to me, so I at least have a starting point? Thank you very much.

Quiz that will ask numerous questions and the relative importance to you of each issue, and return results of what religions your current beliefs are most in sync with.

No website, quiz, pastor, priest or holy man/woman can choose that for you. Most important part of choosing a faith is to follow the calls of your heart.

1. If you enter a path that requires some personal sacrifice ( eg. time, bad habits etc ) and you joyfully make the sacrifice... you on the right track. Otherwise... don't rush

2. If you enter a path that requires nothing but blind devotion...THINK TWICE

3.Anyone who inducts you into a path with FEAR, THREATS and FORCE... Think Thrice!! If they open up your heart with a message of Kindness, Love and Peace that touches a feeper part of your soul... it is worth considering

4. Any path that makes lavish promises of "Shortcuts" to reach a state of or to Divinity... brace yourself for a Massive Dissappointment... coz it WILL come.

At the end of it all, you are responsible for your own Spiritual Well-Being, don't enter a path because someone TOLD you to and later have regrets, and blame that someone for it... coz at the bottomline, you have to agree first before entry. ANY DOUBTS about the path... Stop an Reconsider.

Otherwise, be a Free-Thinker with a Good and Kind Heart, who do youi think a Divine Deity will favor at the end?

-A Free thinker without a religion but who lived his life Noble, Compassionate and Kind?

-Or a Religious Fanatic who crushes the hearts of 1000s of people, temperamental and nasty to "heathens"?

Follow your Heart, Listen to your Logic and Feel what your SOUL-BEING has to say... that will lead you towards the Light you are meant to follow.

I agree with the beliefnet.com answer. It's a great website for ALL different religions.

Personally, I've attended many different churches and talked with many people from different religious backgrounds. I have yet to "choose" any ONE religion that suits my needs best. I love the Lord, pray, and keep an open mind about all religions. I don't believe in picking just one...that's why the world stays at war...due to religious beliefs. I don't want to become part of that "fighting" amongst the churches...kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me.

Good luck on your quest to find the "perfect" one for you...

I faced the same problem a few years ago and although you don't really need a religion to have certain beliefs or values, I understand your need to give them a name. All I did was research and lots of it. I read up on all kinds of different religions and belief systems until I found something that fit all of the beliefs I had and I could finally give them a name! Don't be discouraged if you don't find anything though...sometimes the things you believe will not fit into a religion and if they don't, just accept it and keep on doing what you are doing! Good luck!

Good luck getting an honest answer out of anyone. It's going to be pretty difficult to expect people to give an unbiased answer (assuming such a thing exists in the first place). I think it's pretty cool though that you're standing at the front of the cafeteria line thinking about what you want to put on your plate.

One way you might want to evaluate religions is by the type of people they produce. If you want to go door-to-door and bug people to death there's religions for that. If you want to learn to listen to the thoughts flowing through your mind there's religions for that. There's religions if you want to anthropomorphize your surroundings. Knock yourself out.

Just be aware that in one way or another, you'll be responsible for the choices you make. Not in the afterlife sense, but in the day-to-day sense. I think some religions are better than others at helping people be better psychologically-positioned to deal with life's difficulties. Have fun.

What do you hope to gain from religion? Social support? A personal relationship with God? There are different motivations that will lead to different paths. This is part of what such a quiz could offer. Maybe provide some additional details... why do you want to go to religion? Meditation is something that you can start to do right now to deepen your connection with God. I especially like the mindfulness "meditation" of buddhism. But there are many others.

It depends on what you want. If you elaborate on what you want, you will get some better answers. But I don't know of a quiz site.

You may want to read a theological overview of world religions. There are many books on this topic. Search 'world religion' at Amazon.com

You might start with mutually considerate orientation as the basic premise but then you would have to also live this example.

Religion is the last thing to worry about.

Do not hold humanly conceived images, conceptions and creations highest. Do not become dependent upon, conducive too and or obsessed toward singular and selfish acquirement.

The religions, politics and forms of commerce of humanity are rarely in sync with evolving creations collective requirement.

It is simply forbidden to tilt or sway away from universal balance.

Existing perpetually outside of mutual benefit is fatal and religion is no protection.

The calling to any specific belief system is inherently serendipitous in nature. You may find a faith when you stop looking for one. An internet quiz, while often fun, probably won't give you the answer your looking for. Just know that the 'right one' is the one that feels right to you. Some people may never take up a faith and that is ok too.

Check out http://www.religioustolerance.org I don't think they have a quiz, but you may find some helpful information or insight there.

Try typing 'religion quiz' into your search engine (no quotes) as I know there are little quizzes out there that tell you what they think your religions (or non) leanings are...just don't take them TOO seriously because who knows what the background is of the person(s) who put them together?

Good luck in your search.

The best advice I can give you would be to learn a little about different cultures first. Find one that identifies with who you are and what you want to learn (spiritualy, morally) and stand for. Researching each religion is the best thing before making the final decision. Even better is visiting other religious meetings, or churches the best experiences is actually seeing with your own eyes and being there.

Try reading a book about world religions or research some on the internet.

No one can tell you what your right faith is not even an Internet quiz.... even though they are fun.
