Specialised shoes for running, you will have to go to somewhrre that sells running shoes. High street Shops like JD sports etc only sell fasion type trainers. Some good places are:

The London marathon shop - Soho
The Runners Shop - Beckenham
APEX Sports -WC2
Run and Become - SW1
Haorrods - sport department

Harrods and The London marathon shop will also test your 'gate' (how you run) and will reccomend running shoes to fit your style of running, this at no extra cost too.

The #1 brand among runners is Asics, with about one third of market share. The next closest are Nike, Saucony, Adidas, and New Balance. Everyone's feet are a little different, so the best fit for you wouldn't necessarily be the best fit for anyone else. Your best bet would be to go to a running specialty store and ask for a stride analysis on a treadmill. Usually, it's free. A knowledgeable staffer can then help you select a shoe for you. Beware. The shoe that fits this year might not fit next year, as the companies are always fiddling with the design. Nike is the worst. They seem incapable of making a shoe the same way two years in a row. By the way, inserts can really help some runners. SuperFeet makes an insert that is an off-the-shelf orthodic that will compensate for some feet problems. I find they help in some of my running shoes and not so much in others. Most serious runners have more than one pair of shoes and the second pair is a different brand or model. They rotate the shoes. It improves the life of the shoe and reduces the risk of injury somewhat.

Try Foot locker, JD sports, many of the local sports stores as well as department stores stock running shoes! They should even have a NIKE department store! Keep your eyes open on the high street!
