I believe that stem cell research is an invaluable tool in developing new techniques for treating dabilitating diseases. I also do not see the issue with using aborted feti for stem cells, seeing as how they were going to die anyway.

ADULT stem cell (ASC) research is very promising and has yielded good results. As a result, it is receiving both private and federal (ie government) funding. It's very exciting and it satisfies the Hippocratic oath of "do no harm". Adult stem cells and umbilical cord blood cells are plentiful and don't involve destroying a human life.

Unfortunately, the success of ASC research has been abused by proponents of...

EMBRYONIC stem cell (ESC) research, which is full of ethical and moral problems... and hasn't yielded a SINGLE promising treatment! ESC is being pushed for selfish financial and political reasons, NOT medical reasons. The public, you and I, are being outright lied to. Not funding ESC is one area where George W. is actually bang on.

I think it is perfectly acceptable as long as it does not involve human embryo's. There are too many people on this earth, unfortunately some have to die everyday. Too many are born everyday. We are going to run out of real estate soon.

I reckon that everything that doesn't go beyond the borders of ethics is useful and worth if it is for living and healing purposes
