i got to say advil is better due to the fact i think it has anti-inflammatories in it that can help both with pain and swellling of joints

Tylenol is a little safer, but Advil is a better at fever-reducing. They're both equally effective at pain.

If for pain I'd probably take Tylenol if it were a toothache or headache. Or, I'd take Advil if it was something muscular (Advil reduces blood-flow to inflamed areas). Anything in-between and I'd just pick either one.

It really depends on what either one is to be used to treat. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is useful for treating pain and fever and Advil (ibuprofen) and Aleve or Naprosyn (both naproxen sodium) are useful for treating pain, fever and minor inflammations. Tylenol, if taken too frequently over time or in large doses, can be hepatotoxic (damaging to the liver) while Advil can be nephrotoxic damaging to the kidneys). All these meds have potential adverse effects you should be aware of.

So it may come down to which you find to be more effective and personal preference.

Depends on your symptoms and sensitivity. Advil is great for just about everything but can upset your stomach. Tylenol can screw up your liver if you take it alot over a long period of time, but is good for fevers and headaches.

I use tylenol for headaches, and advil for cramps or body aches

depends on the person. when i have migraines, i can't use advil cuz it'll make it worse, by tylenol doesn't help at all, so i end up having to do aleve instead. i've heard total opposite cases with other people though.
