I used to live 15 minutes from Hässlö and that's about an hour and a half from Stockholm, and I now live about half an hour from Skavsta, and about 40 minutes from Stockholm. And I've flown into and out of Edinburgh and Prestwick many times, and Prestwick isn't in Glasgow either :)

Ryanair's flights change fairly frequently, but two things that don't is their lack of service, and their fairly random idea of what cities particular airports service. Still, they're cheap with their "no fare, just pay the airline tax" deals, and the flight is not that long.

Anyway, jayktee96 gave you a great answer, just beware of and build into your schedule (and perhaps budget) an hour or so on a bus or train at each end to get from the airport you land at to whatever city you expected to be in.

The only destination from Edinburgh (EDI) to Sweden is Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN). The route is operated by SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK) and code-shared by bmi british midland (BD).

From Glasgow, you can fly from Prestwick Airport (PIK) to Gothenburg Saeve Airport (GSE) or Stockholm Skavsta Airport (NYO) using Ryanair (FR).

The websites for the two airports http://www.edinburghairport.com/ and http://www.glasgowairport.com/ will states which airlines fly from those airports. Visit the websites of these airlines that are of interest to you.
