I got this tattoo on Thursday. The day I got it I put A&D ointment on it after taking the bandage off. Some of the ink leaked out that night so I stopped putting the A&D on it and started with the Lubriderm the day after. Alot of the shading has seeped out and it is starting to peel, and more of the ink is flaking off with it. It still looks really good, but I want it to stay bold as it is black with the gray shading. How can I save it from peeling so fast and loosing the dark black and leaving me with a dull tattoo. The artist also applied white ink as an undertone to the outline above the shading....that has completely gone, which he said it could be a possibility. I have one tattoo that I got 5 years ago, it's in the middle of my lower back, this one is across my shoulders. I don't remember loosing any color or ink with the first one.... Any suggestions?

Isn't baby powder supposed to ABSORBE moisture? You are supposed to keep it moisturized.

It is totally normal for it to scab and peel. It may look right now like you are losing color, but give it at least 2 to 3 weeks to heal up and then if it still looks like you are losing color, go back to the tattoo artist and ask them to fix it, which any decent artist will do free of charge. It is also normal for some ink to seep out for the first day or 2. My tattoo artist recommends to leave it completely dry for the first 24 hours after you get it, and then use Lubriderm (make sure its fragrance free!) 3 or 4 times a day to keep it moisturized. Also make sure to wash it at least twice a day with antibacterial soap!! Hope i was able to help!

You are suppose to use Lubriderm. Your tattoo will scab up and peel. If you loose a lot of ink go back to where you got it done and ask them to redo it. I have a tattoo going all the way down my spine and it scabbed and got flaky and ink even came off but it still turned out fine and the woman went back over the spots were the flaking had messed up the color.

Use a non scented lotion and apply at least twice a day...peeling and flaky is pretty normal. If you lose some of the shading that is normal too, because people skins react differently to the ink. If it fades too bad just go back to whoever did the tattoo. Most places will fix it for free.

I used lotion and plastic wrap to cover it to keep moist. Then it peeled a little. But I always put SPF 15 lip balm on mine when I'm in the sun to protect it. The stick covers what you want to protect and tan what you don't .They will fade over time!
