olgc sent me a letter and check for $ 4,975.00 the letter said I had won a 2005 sweepstakes drawing
for 250,000.00 I'm supose to call and verify in order to cash the check I have part of the check is supose to pay the taxes on it. Before I recieve it is this normal procedure

If not this is a scam. I get about five per day.

If you really won, the tax man would have been notified. They don't make real lottery winners pay taxes out of their own pocket before giving them the money. Sounds like a scam.

This is a scam..
You will send them the money for the taxes up front..
And then the check will be no good...
And they will disappear with the "tax" money you sent to them...

This is a scam. You can verify lottery scam by going to http://www.onlineverif.com/? They even have sad stories of people who are scamed by this.
You can also go to your local bank and talk to them, they will help you turn it in, as it is mail fraud.
