Keep a bucket of water by your door, one of those five gallon deals. Put up a sign on your property that says no trespassing or soliciting. When they knock on your door, yank it open and splash them with the water. May want to check with a lawyer fire though. The legality of assault with a bucket of water varies from place to place. Where I'm at, it isn't assault.

Well, there are rules that say people cannot be forced to practice a particular religion, so the "imposing" part of this is already (supposedly) taken care of. Other than that, no, I don't think that there should be such a law. We are all guaranteed the right to practice our religion as we see fit. If the witnesses bother you, hang a "no trespassing" sign or a "no witnessing" sign, even, on the property line.

There are cities that prohibit door to door solicitations of any kind--everything from real estate agents to religious people to Girl Scouts! However, until your city puts it in place, it is under their right to free speech, unfortunately. I am getting REALLY tired of getting Jehova's Witness pamphlets shoved under my door when I'm not home.

By wanting to 'pass a law', you want to force your own beliefs on others.

Why not put a 'No Solicitation' sticker on or beside your door? That would take care of all those selling something, whether it be religion or not?

I suggest also, simply open the door and say 'No, thanks!" and then firmly close the door.

There's free speech in this country, so no one can be forbidden to proselytize. However, I do not necessarily agree with proselytizing and I'm against. The only way it could be outlawed if one (the proselytizer) would harass others into conversion or harass them about their chosen beliefs.

jehovah's witnesses?....

I think it is worse when there are those who pass law so you cannot worship the way you want....or take away your freedom.. i think the basic religions that founded this country and gave freedom of religion should be respected...as well..

islam has now been imposed on the public schools in cailfornia....administration of bill Clinton...a requirement for diversity training

Install a peephole and don't answer your door...it's that easy...the more laws we allow/encourage the government to put in place, the fewer freedoms we'll have...

This isn't a serious enough issue to warrant a law about it...when all it requires is that you ignore it or tell them you aren't interested...

That's a hard question - while I'd like to have a ban on door knocking, (in some cities it is) banning promoting is a slippery slope.

Are you saying that these are PAGANS that are harrassing you?

Yes there should be a law against people making spiritual advances on you, just like there's a law against people making sexual advances toward you.

yes, there should be a law keeping people from coming to your door to prostletize but some religions require that as a way to get to heaven. ha. why must religions require advertising for their staff?
