first question is:
my mother and i are both working ..i am under 18 and claimed "o" on my tax forms..can she still claim me?

second question is:
my mom has a total of 4 kids..does she claim 2 now and two later? or can she claim "0" now and then claim the rest of us at tax time?

If your mom is providing more than half of your support (for example, if you're saving most of your income for college or didn't make enough to provide half of your own support) then she can very likely claim you as a dependent. I am assuming you have lived with her for at least half of the year.

If you provide half or more of your support, then she can't. Be aware that the rules change once you turn 19 unless you're a full-time student or disabled, then she can't claim you. If any of her other children are 19 or over, and not disabled or full-time students, she can't claim them even if she supports them.

If you are 17, then she doesn't get the child tax credit for you even if you qualify as a dependent.

When your mom files her tax return at the end of this year, she will claim as many children as she's entitled to claim. It doesn't matter what she's claimed on her W-4, since that only determines how much tax is taken out of her paycheck. If she's claiming 2 now, but will claim 3 or 4 (depending on whether you qualify) on her tax return, that's OK.

im assuming you are still a student. your mom can still most likely claim you on her tax return as a dependent. (if she claims you, you cannot claim yourself.)

i think you are getting confused as to filling out the number of "exemptions" versus "dependents" for the W-4. for the W-4, this form is used just to figure out how much tax should be withheld from your salary. your mom can put "0" on this form if she wants the maximum withholding. this has nothing to do with claiming her children as dependents when it comes time to filing her tax return. provided all her children qualify as her dependents, she can claim all 4 at tax time.

yeah your mother can still claim you if you are living with her and she is providing 50% of your financial support. second question, there is no two now and two later, your mom has 4 kids she should claim them all now and 1 for herself. your mom would be claiming you as an exception so you are not claiming yourself (0 on yours like you said). Good luck

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but here is the link to the contact page from IRS.gov. It's always better to get it straight from the source anyway. :-)
