Has any-one used any products containing alpha-hydroxy acid? I have done a bit of research and I understand that it is an ingredient that might give your skin a more youthful appearance. However I find it very confusing to go and try to buy a product containing this ingredient. I don't always understand what the ingredients are on the label and there seems to be such a range of prices. I don't really want to ask at the cosmetic counter if I can avoid it. I know a lot of the sales people work for comission and I'm concerned I'll end up paying a lot more than I need to. Has anybody used a product that you could recommend that is a reasonable price? Also could you please state if you live in the US . I live in Canada, but close to the border so if I can't find it here I can always pop across the line to buy it.

Yes I consider $50 a reasonable price but hopefully not too much over $50.

I use a produce called Alpha-Hydrox & I've been using it for over 10 years. I'm 39 yrs old & don't have a line or wrinkle on my face, my complexion is almost flawless. I've had a hard time finding it in the states in the past few years. It usually sold for around $10, but i recently found it at a dollar store for about $4 & I bought all they had. I've had people stop me in the middle of conversations to ask what I use on my face to clear it up. I'm not kidding. I used to have bad acne & a terrible complexion. One thing to remember always use sunscreen, AHA's will make you more photosensitive & most wrinkles & lines come from sundamage. Alpha-Hydrox should have a website or you may be able to find it at your local drugstore, grocery store or discount store. You may be able to find it on eBay as well. I'm hooked for life & will always use it. It has really made a difference in my skin's appearence. It is the strongest you can buy without a prescription and the least expensive. I can see spending $50 on a product when $10-$12 does the job as well or in my case better. I had tried the more expensive brands but always went back to Alpha-Hydrox. If you can't find it Avon was the 1st to make it, it is in their Anew line. I love the Anew Line & Wrinkle Corrector. Good luck.

I'm 34 and have used Alpha Hydrox for 11 years. It is made by Neoteric Cosmetics. I have no wrinkles and my pimples cleared within months of using it. I use it in the morning after getting out of the shower. I then use sunscreen, also from the same company and then my make-up goes on. When you first start using it, it can tingle and sometimes slightly burn but over time this will lessen. I can no longer find it in the area I live so I order directly from www.alphahydrox.com, the shipping is fairly cheap and they will email with specials. For more info. about alpha hydrox go to www.cosmeticscop.com. Personally I would never be without the stuff. Good Luck!!!

I use a alpha hydroxy serum. It's moisturizing so I use it at night instead of a lotion on my face. I get it from a direct seller. I think she sells stuff in Canada too. I buy it about three times a year and with shipping and handling I probably pay about $50 for it, but I always get it with other skin care products, so I'm not too sure. That might not be what you consider reasonably priced though. But in general reference if your putting cheap stuff on your skin, there's a reason it's so cheap. And here's her link: http://rbryant.qbeautyzone.com/Products/Product.aspx?ItemNo=E8006
If you have sensitive skin though you might not want to be using alpha hydroxy.

I use the Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser that contains Alpa-hydroxy acid. It does make my skin smoother and brighter. You can get it under $10 in Target.

I have used the AHA gel from Artistry (available online at quixtar.com), and it works welll. No reactions, reasonable results in a few weeks.
Personally, I prefer their Skin Refinishing Lotion, which uses oatmeal extracts. It works very fast to reduce wrinkles and lines, and is great to use every day.
