I agree, when it's winter and snowing, and your having Thanksgiving Dinner/Christmas Dinner etc....they are great and provide a perfect atmosphere.
BUT....when it 100 degree outside and in the middle of Summer, they get old really quick.

Im a little cabin in the woods type. I love all that wood-its so cozy feeling, makes you want to bulid a fire and take a nap. Even in the summer, they are shady and dark feeling..soooo cozy and homey....
Ive been in some friends big open, modern homes and they are always chilly inside and seem to echo. Tile floors, vaulted cielings, giant paintings on the white walls-like a gallery. That's a place Id rather visit, than live.
Vive la Difference!

Funny question! I always wondered what the draw was to log homes. They're unsightly, unless you stay at chalets when skiing. The snow mountain setting is right. You can appreciate the novelty of open log ceilings, then go home. Soaring ceilings anywhere are nice.
I guess because for years, the family has owned and seasonally visited log cabins on a lake, which I'm thankful for, but camp is, well, camp. Testosterone.

I once lived in a big two-story geodesic dome house. Most of those type of homes have wood interiors, but mine didn't, it had drywall. I think I can understand your feelings about looking at wood all the time. Besides, the drywall was painted eggshell white, and allowed a lot of light to fill the rooms at all times.

For me, lifestyles is a moment of provider to others before we move on to the afterlife which is eternal. And the "provider" doesn't must be anything gigantic like joining the army or becoming a policemen or go volunteering at poverty-troubled nations (although if you want to achieve this, I whole-heartedly consider you and am at the back of you one hundred percent XD), it may be if you happen to like drawing or writing and when others read it, they believe impressed, awe, or spiritually lifted. I might as a rule cheer humans up with my drawings or writings. For me, life is good, and the afterlife's the finest. It's handiest that you have to know where to appear in an effort to find the greatness of life.

I can't imagine people really feeling too strongly either way. I'm not a log cabin dweller myself, but I figure they're probably just as apathetic towards wood as we are plaster. Plus, one could easily paint it, so instead of wood, you'd see paint. I've never thought about it before.
