For what it's worth, I have a YAMAHA HTR-5760 A/V receiver
that pulls in more stations than I can listion to with the FM wire
antenna and AM loop antenna that come with the unit. I am getting stations up to a 100 mi. away. I live on the coast and there are no mountains blocking reception.I know people who have the same results with YAMAHA receivers. They are great
products for the money.

too many factors to look at. Where will this be located? Are you in town or out in the suburbs? Will it be in a basement or top floor of an apartment? How good of a reception do you get with your tv and antenna? Sometimes when it is cloudy I get a better reception, like 200 miles. Signal strength also improves in late hours. Just use an external antenna or boost it with amplification.

Reception of modern recievers today is pretty much the same across the board, as manufacturers don't usually focus on the tuner as a selling point.

You would be better served by getting the reciever of your choice and adding an amplified indoor antenna to boost the signals and increase reception.

You can look at tuner specs and get some idea of sensitivity. It is specified for µV for "n"db of quieting. You want low values of µV for high values of "n"db. Usually it is specified for 20db. However, that spec does not tell the whole story, as selectivity and multipath rejection are also important, but that is a good place to start. Usually, the better the sensitivity spec, the better the tuner, but not all tuners with the same sensitivity spec will perform equally.
