So many of my friends began jogging, then competed in races, after the sprinters and marathon sloggers we know taught them how to build up running skills.
Learning how to run properly may lower the risk of injury, and increase your interest. If you can find a group for camaraderie, or a coach, you will be all set for the challenge.
I won't run unless somebody is chasing me.
Good Luck!

I recently started jogging and admit that I feel a little self conscious as I am not a size 8. I jog along a main road so there are always cars zooming by and don't even mention the traffic lights!!!!
I listen to my music and concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other and motivating myself to keep going!
It's tough but ignore the other people - close the world out! You are out there doing something constructive that is beneficial for you.
Be proud and run with your head held high taking courage in the fact that you are not alone!!!
Keep going. Xx

People jogging actually look cool and it is verytrendy, so it is you who see tham as pitiful. You probably look pitiful to others, so just get over it and start some exercise. By the way, take it easy, especially if you have a health problem. See a cardiologist first.Maybe it is best if you take long walks.

Before I lost 30 plus pounds, I had people actually make fun of me. There are several options -- go early in the morning or late a night, find a location where other joggers run, or learn to ignore those watching you. Keep in mind that you are improving your health. FYI--yesterday I won a second place trophy in a race.

I don't think when I jog (lol), I zone. Enter my own little world, solve problems, get ideas, go blank, sometimes all of these. Its my chance to just fade away and let my body take over.

I feel the same way, but I just try to ignore the passersby and concentrate on what I am doing. Try to find somewhere that not as many people pass until you feel more comfortable. Hold your head high you are helping yourself.
