Each vob file is 1 gb in size. If the movie for example is 4 gb there will be 4 vob files. If the dvd is a shop bought one you are trying to copy from then there will be quite alot of vob files, most of them of no use to you. You cannot just copy a factory pressed movie onto another disc as they are duall layer and contain too much information to go onto a standard blank disc. You need to find a special programme to de macro the disc and rip it. A little bit more info on what your trying to do would help then i could give you a step by step guide.

I had a TV card that I needed help with for backing stuff up onto DVD/VCD the site below was the site that i got recommended it has step by step guides with links to freeware/shareware software that you need (you will find guides link at top right of page) - even if you solved your problem, there is a heap of stuff on here that will make DVD authoring and burning alot easier as well as some great software links, I would definately take a look at it and have a browse around if you want to get into creating your own DVD's - it helped me alot!

smartsoft video converter pro. works for me, will convert many types of movie file (inc. avi) to any other type of file (inc, dvd compatible mpeg - these files are standard dvd files and will play on your dvd player). plus, with this program, you can burn to a cd and it will still be recognised as a dvd on a dvd player or pc. i don't have a dvd burner, just a cd burner, and it still burns dvd files to disc.
