I suggest going to your local council offices and complain about the "stench" I'm sure they should be able to do something to stop this from happening.

I feel for you because strong smells do stick to your clothes, and its not nice going arround smelling of garlic and going to work feeling paranoid about a smell you didn't create and have what feels like no control over! Well, its going to be hard approaching them as you dont want to offend them but its worth noting that if you live close to your neighbours everyone has to be considerate of their actions whether it is slamming the front door shut when you leave the house (when i lived in a flat our neighbour used to do that! and she was really heavy footed upstairs!)
The thing with the cooking is that you are stuck with it, its unlikely that they will change their diet for your benefit! Perhaps go to an indian food shop and ask if they have anything to get rid of the odour whilst cooking spices. Try Oust odour spray or try natural oils in oil burner (you dont want too many chemicals in the air as not good for you)
Try talking to them when you next see them, just be friendly and start a conversation, eventually get round to talking about the problems you are having, if you apporach this in the right way - calm, friendly, polite then they have no reason to react badly - they should be considerate and understand that the smell is constant and very strong and affecting your life (as i imagine you feel smelly!) Good luck!

I can understand this must be annoying. I can sympathise because I moved into a rented flat and the previous tenent must have cooked indian food everyday! No matter how much you love Indian food it's not nice to smell someone elses cooking everyday. There is something comforting about having your own smell in the house.
Unfortunalty if you don't live in a detached house this is a problem you'll find. It's also not fair on your neighbours to ask them to do anyting about it as it's not their fault either. The best thing you can do is invest in a good quality ioniser. They get rid of bad smells and give you purer air. This should help otherwise move home!

well you shouldn't have to move but neither should they. unfortunatly you can't tell people what to cook. you could try using a strong frabic softener to get you clothes that nice fresh smell again. and you could use a stronger air frenshner. if all fails go around and talk to them. i'm sure they are probably not aware of how strong the smell is. There is no need for them to be rude to you if your not rude to them.

Start cooking stinky fish or prepare hamburgers on BBQ at 8 or 7 am and make sure they will smell it... continue every day...
or just simply talk to them - there is nothing worst than lack of conversation - otherwise you will stay annoyed 4ever. you might even get the invitation for dinner and make good friends with them.

My god you must live beside me as i have the same problem. I think they have converted their garage to cook extra large amounts of curry because the smell is so strong it burns your nostrils.I love the smell of curry normally but not 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

you can complain to the environmental health think it comes under the same umbrella as noise pollution what if it was a sewer ..same thing well not quite but depends how bad it is are they running a restaurant next door on the sly if its affecting you... have you talked to them or your neighbours maybe they don't realise but domestic cooking should not be a problem so why should you move ..good luck

it really is extremely a problematical one, to respond to without malice. one ingredient you may do is attempt to regulate your idea of the nutrients. it may gross you out, yet flow next door and ask for a recipe. Make the dish and eat it... you may locate out that you want it (or now at the very least, locate you may tolerate the scent). yet another ingredient is to get an air neutralizer, not deodorizer. something like oust (i propose both the spray can and the fan). you may boil vinegar to boot - it does tremendous for zapping smells. you may be preventative too. in case you recognize they eat at a particular time, % up your position formerly that aspect! ultimately, you may flow. i'm not attempting to be a jerk both. i might want to fairly flow remote from someone than flow over to them and tell them that their cultural dishes are stinky to me. solid success!

Why should your neighbours stop cooking? They have to eat too. They probably find the smells of English cooking as objectionable as you find theirs...and I bet you've never tried any other kind. You should, you might learn something.
I suggest you go out to a superstore of your choice, and buy yourself an interest in life. And don't forget a bagful of new ideas, and a sprinkling of tolerance.

I doubt if you mention something they will say anything!! I am Indian and I know what your talking about, go next door, politely tell them and I'm sure you can all make a few changes. They could get a proper extractor above the cooker, check to see if you have washing out before cooking...etc.....have you tried this yet?

First of all, I'm assuming you mean apartment, because I have trouble believing that unless they are running a restaurant out of their house, that the smell would permeate from one house to another.
Get yourself some air fresheners and relax. man, what I wouldn't give to be in your place. I'd be making friends with them really fast, and encouraging all kinds of dinner parties. I love Indian food!
