and again i ask another question, if God him self came down and told us that Jesus is the son of God , would you believe Him?,,,,,,,,he did come down and tell us 2 different times, and is documented in the bible, many people saw and heard it, ,,,once at the mont of viguration and again when jesus became babtised,,,, so i dont know if you realize it but we will be without excuse when we stand in Gods presence,,,, and no you wont tell Hod anything, ,,the bible says your tounge will cleave to the roof of your mouth and your knees will smote together, not one word will you be able to speek at that time,,,,, so better do what we need to do now,,,dont you think?

See the level of intelligence to your question. These people that answer such questions are lost.....they only find happiness in material things. If they can't feel it, or see it, then to them is doesn't exist. One has no better answer then to comment on your capitalization error, some just vomit out words that mean nothing. They worship money, and the grief and disgust that it brings into there menial, empty lives. When they're thrown at the feet of our Lord on their judgment day you know what? God's gonna look at them and say: " You have denied me all of your life. you spent your time in Yahoo Answers harassing the Christians and believers in Me and My Son Jesus.......and now you want what?????? To enter My Kingdom?........I know not who you are."

My question, "what if what is written in the bible is a complete fabrication, a collection of ancient myths with no basis in fact?" is just as valid as your "jesus came back from the dead" proposition. Here's how it works: there is no proof of any kind that jesus came back from the dead *except* a book of collected writings of people who had a vested interest in promoting jesus worship, and said book is of dubious origin with no original versions of the writings still existing and passed down over the years through people who also had a vested interest in promoting it.

God didn't come down to ME, or to you. You're going on non-eyewitness testimony at best (you DO know none of the gospel writers ever saw any of the events they wrote about, because they weren't alive yet, don't you?). At worst it's completely fictionalized fairy-tales. How can you tell if it's "real" or not? You can't. And since the bible is based on tales of miraculous events -- none of which we see today, since people are not quite so superstitious as in the past and since we have science to explain how the world works now -- my standard view is that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof...and there is NO proof at all in this case. That makes it extremely unlikely that any of it actually happened, so there's no reason for me to believe any of it.

The bible is full of "bad things" that will happen to un-believers. Yet, here I am 46 years old, and have been an unbeliever for 30 of those years, and nothing bad has happened to me. I'm wealthy, educated, have a wonderful wife and children, live a good life, am very happy, and have never been "smitten" by god in any way. Either god doesn't exist, or his promises to smite the unbelievers are worthless -- in any case, I don't have to bother with him.
Peace.

...

And the Tao Te Ching shows that Lao Zi was born as an old man and became instantaneously enlightened.

The bible is not evidence in and of itself. It is a claim that must be verified.

Thus there remains no evidence for these events specified. However, if *I* were to see a deity tell me Christianity was true, or a person come back from the dead three days later with proper medical documentation then we'd have some evidence...

If I saw someone come back from the dead and they told me all about Heaven or Hell, yeah, I'd listen to them if they were making a convincing case. But that's the thing: I HAVEN'T seen anyone come back from the dead. And I'm not going to trust a book that's thousands of years old telling me that it happened. Why in the world would I believe that? There's no historical evidence for it, and I have no more reason to believe it happened than I have to believe the claims of any other religion. Something that extraordinary I have to see myself. I'm not going to take the word of an ancient text.

Food for thought for you: ever stop to think that your belief system is predicated on a document and theology compiled from selected historical writings? Writings selected in support of the world view of an irate King and his supporters. A document which leaves out many of the more spiritually oriented teachings which were available. A document that promotes fear as its basic tenet and war as its basic conflict solution.
You, as a believer, see "Christ" everyday of your life but don't recognize him because he doesn't take your recognized form of "Jesus". You see "GOD" everyday but don't recognize him becaues she doesn't take the form of the "GOD of Jehova" as described in your fairy tale book. You stand in "GOD's" presence every minute of your existance but don't see him because you are blinded by the teachings of materialism.
Yes, we better do what we need to do now and that is look inward for the answers we seek and the meeting place with the Alpha, not wait to have them delivered by some bearded old man living somewhere behind the moon!!!
So, I do see, and I do believe, just not in the way you do!

Simple put NO. For the record a 2000 year old book written by a dozen of drunk fisherman hardly counts as proof or evidence. You want proof look at the news. If there is a god, which logic and reason insist there isn't, hes not a very helpful or loving god take the 2 year old innocent child that gets raped to death and left to float naked in the river. "Jesus loves the little children" not that child obviously.

food for thought is like the second best type of food, the thing with atheist is that they have to see it to believe it, jesus was 2000 years ago and the bible was 1600 years ago, this is a long time, if god does exist, hes not really caring about us anymore, there hasnt been a smiting in 800 years, 25 if you want to go there

I think there are some neurobiological explanations for near death experiences. Powerful hormones may be release that cause profound neurological changes. I think people experience similar things from the use of drugs and other deep emotional/physical experiences. I don't believe anyone returned from the dead after being truly dead for days.

Although I don't rule out the existence of a higher power I think it may be just as like there is not one. I keep an open mind and consider myself a spiritual person. I don't have a literal belief in the Bible. This comes after much study of both the Bible and comparative religion/mythology. I believe in a deeper spiritual mythology that derives from underlying current in all religious traditions. Did you know that the pagan God Mithras was born from a virgin, the birth was attended by shepards bearing gifts, he traveled bringing the promise of immortality to his followers with 12 disciples, he sacrificed himself for world peace, rose from his tomb after three days, his principle festival was held at the time of Easter, his religion had a eucharist or “Lord’s Supper,” at which Mithra said, “He who shall nto eat of my body nor drink of my blood so that he may be one with me and I with him, shall not be saved.”
I don't believe Mithras is a literally true mythology either. I think what we have in religion are rolling and morphing beliefs that represent man's struggle to understand themselves and the divine.

So, a book written by men tells you that the person you worship came back just as he said he would and you expect people 2,000 years later to just believe that it is fact with no other concrete proof?

The evidence of absence is not the absence of evidence!

"Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know." Donald Rumsfeld

where's the proof? just because it says this stuff in a book called the bible, doesn't mean it is true. Ever read Enid Blyton's famous five, did you think it was true ??

If someone came back from the dead, my gran or grandad say, and said that there was a heaven, yes i'd believe them. But unitl I see it for myself, then Jon Bon Jovi is my God and heaven is being front row at a Bon Jovi concert !!!

I need to see it for myself. I don't know why, but that is just my opinion and how I feel. I'm glad that you are able to believe in God easily. Some people are different though.
And I just want to add, you seem to be really mad at others for not believing what you do, or one's that aren't sure. And you were very sarcastic at the end. You only need to worry about yourself, and you are not supposed to judge others and tell them what they better do.
