My daughter has a Nissen Fundoplication and a MicKey button feeding tube. She has cycles of gagging/dry heaves. For several days- a week she will be fine,no gagging. But then she will have several days of severe gagging. She gags so hard she drops her heart rate. Her doctors have no clue except the fact that the Nissen Fundoplication can cause gagging/ dry heaves. Has anyone else dealt with this? Did your child outgrow it? What can be done to help? Any input would be great. thanks.

Have teh mickey button checked & possibly resized, my son is 9 1/2 years old, & has been tube fed since the day he was born, he too has had a fundoplacation, & a mickey button, when the gagging started, we took him to the doctors right away. The ysaid it needed to be resized, & that with the fundoplacation being done, please note...........a child CANNOT throw up, my son never burped unti leh was 8 years old, & it frecked him out when he heard himself burp. When the child does try to get sick, make sure the tubing is near by, so you can drain his button right away to relieve the pressure. If you dont, they can asperate on there own fluids.

Hope this helps, trust me it will get better & easier in time.
Hope this helps.

I find this very interesting. My daughter has severe acid reflux and I'm wondering if this surgery is something she may have to have down the road.
