I've liked this guy since last year, but I was too shy last year to talk to him. I've become more outgoing this year but I still don't know what to say to him to start a conversation.
We know each other; we're in the same homeroom and we have common free periods and other classes together . We talk occasionally but never about each other. I'm kind of shy to approach him directy because there are about 3 other girls who flirt with him and are more outgoing than I am.
How can I get him to open up?

Try to find some common interests. Do you guys have similar tastes in music? movies? television? Try talking about that stuff and developing a solid friendship. Then once you have known him for awhile, you can tell him that you like him a little more than as a friend. Or maybe you will have changed your mind by then (who knows)? Either way, I hope all goes well.

Open up for him. I bet he loses his shyness the lower his zipper goes....
