I have two children, ages 1.5 and 3.5. My 3.5 year old is really challenging us lately. He's very stubborn, whiny, almost unpleasant to be around.

I think we are ineffective parents because we are not on the same "team". We parent differently and neither method is working. I care very much about my son's well-being and feel that he needs us to be a team. Can anyone reccomend a book, resource... anything that we might be able to do/work on together to help us work through this time?

Thanks!

Maybe you've seen his column in your newspaper. He is carried by many newspapers as a regular column. His is a very common sense approach.

Here are some great parenting books:

Adventures in Gentle Discipline by Hilary Flower
The Discipline Book by Dr. Sears
The Successful Child by Dr. Sears
Kid Cooperation by Pantley
Kids, Parents & Power Struggles by Kurcinka
How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Faber & Mazlish
Siblings Without Rivalry by Faber & Mazlish
Playful Parenting by Lawrence J. Cohen

(And I have to give a big "ICK!" to the recommendation for John Rosemond!)
