There is no easy way to tell her... but you have to. If it was me i would sit her down and tell her "I know you won't like hearing this, but for the sake of your child i feel the need to tell you your sitter is mentally abusing you child. (insert further detail here)" and then try to help her find another GOOD sitter. good luck

My way of handling situations of question.. I think about how I would want someone to tell me. How would you want your friend to tell you that your child was being mentally abused? Give them that same respect and consideration and you can't go wrong. Remember they may not believe you at first, but as the old saying goes, You've planted the seed...So they will start looking and listening more attentatively and will eventually see things for themselves.... This is a rough area, Good Luck

Well, firstly you are legally obligated to report it to the authorities in most places. Yes, legally as well as morally if you do not tell the authorities you can be charged. If you tell the authorities at least there is a chance this person won't just go off and do it to some other kids.
I would tell the mother first. I would ask her over for coffee, tell her what you have seen and tell her that you feel obligated to report it. Then give her the option to come with you when you report it.
But you must report it, it is the law and it is the right thing to do.

First get someone eles opinion on wheather they think what you know amounts to child abuse. if they agree, approach the childs mother.this can be difficult if the sitter is a family friend.they might not want to believe you.if they dont theres nothing much you can do.all you can do is try

How do you know this? When you know the answers to that question that's what you tell the mother. Be specific and factual and don't be condescending. Let her draw her own conclusions with the facts you provide. Again, don't say it in a judgemental way but in a way that says "I thought you should know".

Please tell her immediately.
If you can't, call children & youth in your county, and they will investigate and get the poor child help.
The child could be scarred forever....so please get the child help...and you will be thankful for the rest of your life.
The child can't talk for herself.
