up to £2000, the vehicle can also be clamped and then crushed.
when you have no tax your car insurance is also void so its worth pointing out that if this stroppy teen has an accident they won't be covered.

A court appearance if its South Yorkshire Police. I didn't have a car, i didn't have tax, insurance or MoT either. They still took me to court for a car i didn't have as i was not seen driving in Sheffield. Magistrates threw the case out.

when my ex husband was caught with no tax, it was only a day late, it was a £60 fine and 3 points on his licence, its a lot harsher now. if they spot your car with no tax they can impound it and you have 2 weeks to produce the car tax or it will be crushed. the dvla database automatically knows if you are up to date and will send out an automatic £80 fine if it is late (reduced to £40 if you pay quickly), if you do not pay, it will be taken to court where you will have approx £100 court fees on top, still dont pay, they crush your car.....

You get a £80 fine when you dont renew, and if you carry on driving you will face a court case and then if that doesnt sink in you will have your car crushed.
