Yes, it's perhaps a better route to take. I mean if you belong to a church for example and do not feel comfortable in all it's rules or teachings, this leads you further away from G-D. G-D and yourself is a most personal relationship which no one can interfere. You don't need a Bible or some place of worship to be close to Him. He's in your heart. Religion in itself is a guide to follow certain moral rules and live a decent life. You should follow the rules that make you the most comfortable as it's your life an ultimately you must live with the choices you make. Remember, G-D, in it of himself doesn't have a religion.

Please fogive me for making an assumption but the way I do read your question you are asking if its OK to be a free lancer rather than be a joiner.
I like that thus I became a "NO" and I am the only "NO" I do know except for my mate who is a part "NO". You see we both study the Bible all the tome and do have some friendly [ha ha] discussions about our views. I don't try to change her and just let her be wrong if she wants to be wrong. I am a very understanding guy. {Besides I know better than to try to win a discussion with a sweet lady - its an impossibhle task].
If my assumption is correct I am 100% in favor of that not joining a group. I am always willing to share my views with others and to hear their views but I will never get locked into those man made rules that are required when one becomes a signed up joiner. If I do read correctly Acts 2:47 it is not for those who hear the word of God and do it to join anything. That verse tells me "the Lord" automatically adds those who are qualified to a group. I can find nothing in my bibles that tells me to join a group of orgtanized religion.
My relationship with My God is personal and I do not require others to join me and I do not join others. Absolutely it is great to walk together with others, but not if you can not agree on some very basic guidelines. One of those for me is to set aside man made rules and to be free to follow the guidelines set by My God as I do understand them. That is what being a "NO" is all about.
Let others do as they think is right for them and let that be between them and their God. Likewise let a "NO" be a "NO" and just respect each other and each others views.
Nice question my friend now do have a good day.

A personal philosophy and code of personal ethics and standards is essential to any examined existence. I think this is that kind of thing you're getting at when you say "personal religion."
The fundamentalists of any religion will take issue with you "picking and choosing" whats reasonable for you from the religion you are taught. What do you care? You're developing a frame of reference for the world at large. At least you can say "this is what I think" and have reasons to back that up. So let the fundamentalists judge and live your life with the best character you can muster.
Good luck and God Bless.

I see nothing wrong with it. I have never seen one scripture that says you have to be in a room full of like minded people in order for God to hear your prayers. Every religion was started by someone. I think that everyone should have a set of self values that they stick too and that makes them feel better about themselves. There is nothing wrong with that unless you are hurting someone else. I say go for it and make yourself a better person in the process.

Religion is PERSONAL and PRIVATE matter.
Even 2 different person in the same religion ,..MIGHT have 2 different perception,..althouhgt not in principle.
Why because,..they have different family, social, education and life experience background.
However,...if u want to have spiritual path different than the existing,..u might end with the RIGHT or WRONG path.( i dont say all wrong,...because some even get a higher level of truth,...ie prophets and Jesus Him self in the bible).

In my opinion it needs to be part of a bigger religion. What good would religion be if each person created their own rules!

I'm absolutely sure that if you keep advertising that position, you'll have a whole bunch of fundamentalists - mainly new-born Christians and neo-cons - threatening to send you to hell prematurely for heresy, as they do to anyone who disgrees with the Bible in any respect. So, yes, some people will have a problem with it, but, seeing as religion is and should be a deeply personal thing, I see no reason why you would advertise such position, and then, if you kept it to yourself, no one will know or, resultingly, have any issues with it.

No two people have the same experiences in life, in this being true, then no two people see religion the same.

I think it's a problem because those people make things up as they go along. They don't have proof for what they believe. Spirituality is just as absolute as a wall being colored white. Physical attributes are absolute, so are spiritual ones.
Jesus is the only way to heaven.
