aight look, every time i dye my hair it only dyes the roots .... ive used revlon colorsilk and garnier 100% and both only died my roots.

The problem your having is because you need to strip the hair of color where it has been colored BEFORE you try to color over it. Color over color just makes darker color. Most hair dyes you get at the drugstore will only "color" new growth, or virgin hair. They are not formulated to strip AND color at the same time.

Try a salon supply store like Sally's Beauty Supply (prices aren't that much more than drugstores), and ask for a stripper to remove the existing color, then ask them for a good conditioning color to use after the stripper. By the way, the stripper probably will make your hair a bit orange-ish, but that's normal. The color you put on after that will tone down the orange, and will cling to the hair very well.

Follow up with a deep conditioner designed to lock in color and help keep it true.

I use garnier nutrisse it's really good and i've never had problems with it. It looks natural and it also says it works on grays.

try dying it at a salon the colour is so much better
