It really depends on how much you drink. Too much of anything, including things that we consider healthy can make you fat. An 8oz serving of Gatorade has about 14 grams of sugar and about 50 calories. This should be okay after a jog, but since most Gatorade comes in large +17 oz bottles it would be best if you didn't drink the whole bottle. It would be ashame after working so hard to burn all those calories to only gain it back and then some just because you took a drink. The sodium and potassium are the electrolytes that you need, but quite frankly most people consume way too much sodium already so you probably are not in dire need of sodium. Potassium on the other hand is a different story. Most people actually do not consume enough potassium and part of the reason is that the key source for potassium in from vegetables, fruits, and even yogurt which most people do not eat in sufficient quantities..

There is so much sugar in Gatorade you may be better off with plain water or try cutting the Gatorade 50/50 with water.

Yes you can drink it while dieting, but I wouldn't have more than one a day because of the sugar in it. You want to keep your sugars low when you are dieting. And if you are going to have sugar, have it right after your workout to help you build muscle.
