Yes you can burn through encryptions, but not with Roxio or Nero they do not burn copy protected movies. I use the following 3 software programs to make backup copies of my movies, ShrinkDVD, and these 2 will copy anything, AnyDVD and CopyDVD. ShrinkDVD is free, the other 2 have a 21 day free trial, but nothing stops them. See below for links and info.

http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html...... - DVD Shrink Freeware will copy most DVDs but there are some it will not copy.

P.S yes I did buy the software, and in terms of me paying for software, it is very rare, but after the 21 day trial was up, I knew I had to have this software, I had bought a few new DVDs (An American Haunting, Cliq and some others that DVD Shrink would not copy) those 2 programs backed them up no problem.

No, you cannot duplicate 'through' encryption with roxio or other disc copying software, in general. Some speciality programs can do some of that for some disc's....

Roxio is adequate, just like Nero and Easy CD Creator are for burning disc's. A better program with more robust features, and better supported by a dedicated company is NTI CD/DVD Creator Platinum and Titanium. Been using it for many years, through many upgrades and it continually GETS better. I've actively compared it against the rest and can say from positive personal experience NTI has their act together, produced a solid product that won't let you down. Very robust.

Nero would not "degrade high quality" as long as your source media will greater healthful on the DVD with out recoding. If that is going to not greater healthful, then any software will could recompress it to a decrease bitrate, with corresponding high quality loss.
