Wilton makes the Christmas tree shaped cake pan. I have used this for years.
You will need:
White box cake mix
can of vanilla frosting
Christmas colored M&M's
green food coloring
1 1/2 c flake coconut
Make cake as directed on box. Let it cool completley. Top with frosting. In a glass jar or a ziplock add a few drops of green food coloring (the more you add the darker your tree will be) I usually add about 10 drops. Add the coconut to the container and shake it around so that the coconut is evenly colored. Top the frosting with the colored coconut and decorate with the M&M's. I have also used Red Hots (spicy cinnamon candy) to decorate my tree with. That's as funky as you can get!
Enjoy!

a friend of mine had a great cake that was easy to make and would adapt well to christmas. it was 3 packages stacked on top of each other but it was of course 3 cakes stacked kind of like a wedding cake. just make 3 retangualar cakes and decorate them like packages with different colors for wrapping and ribbons and stack em up.
