Dfirefox: I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but I actually have thought about it. I have friends who tried to make it and watching them fail scared me out of it.

No it would not. Traditional Judaism believes that one day the Messiah will come. The Satmir Hassadic community believed that Rabbi Schneerson was the Messiah and he would come back shortly after his death. Well, he was buried in Old Montefiore Cemetery in New York and is still there. Why would you believe your next door neighbor is the Messiah? If you have just reason, you should contact the Union of Orthodox Rabbi's and inform them. I had a neighbor one time who was absolutely drop dead gorgeous. Every time I say her I would say to myself "oh G-d" but I never thought of her as the Messiah :-)
A Messianic Jew believes that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.

Some Christian cults describe themselves as "Messianic Jews". It's a ridiculous term.
All practicing Jews are "messianic" in that they believe the Messiah will come. The difference is that mainstream Jews understand the definition and criteria of the Messiah.

A messianic Jew believes that Jesus Christ is the messiah... which technically means you're not a Jew.
Sigh. Listen -- it doesn't matter what you think your neighbor is. A messianic Jew is...well, I've already explained that part.

No, Messianic Jews are better known as "Jews for Jesus." They are pretty much Christians that still call themselves Jews.

No, not unless your neighbor was Jesus son of Joseph and Mary. And that is not probable, although possible.
