The music my fiance and I like isn't exactly made for weddings. More for like tuning in and tuning out if you catch my drift..lol.

We are southern children and like older music, even though it wasn't our time period. We like classic rock (i.e. The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Doors, Hendrix, Joplin and so forth), outlaw country (Waylon, Cash, Merle....) and southern rock (The Allman Brothers, Skynyrd, Bob Seger..)

The list goes on.....but it is hard to find wedding appropriate songs. Any ideas?

Thanks!

People usually go with jazz favs...having worked catering for sometime, I can honestly say that people always use the SAME boring music because they go with the suggestions of party planners, afraid to come up with their own ideas. I have always said..if/when I get married, I will be picking out MY OWN music...I hope this will help you.
All of that stuff is great for the actual 'party' part of the the reception...if you are looking to pick appropriate songs for your post-ceremony introductions, etc. here's a list of a few standard but not-so standard wedding songs for you guys..and congrats!

Love Song ~ Elton John
You Got The Silver ~ Rolling Stones
How I Tell You? ~ Cat Stevens
I Love Everything About You, Baby ~ Stevie Wonder
Blue Sky ~ Allman Brothers
Our Love Is Here To Stay ~ Ella Fitzgerald
My Love ~ Paul McCartney and Wings
Reason To Believe ~ Rod Stewart
Stardust ~ Willie Nelson
Always ~ Patsy Cline
Love, Love Love ~ Donny Hathaway
Sparkle ~ Curtis Mayfield
Thank You ~ Led Zeppelin
I've Been Waiting For You ~ Neil Young
Be Bop A Lula ~ Gene Vincent
Beginnings ~ Chicago
Come and Go With Me ~ Buddy Holly
I'll Be Your Baby Tonight ~ Bob Dylan
Your So Good For Me ~ Humble Pie
To Love Somebody ~ Janis Joplin
Good To Me ~ Otis Redding
Somewhere (from West Side Story) ~ Tom Waits...my email is sparker555@gmail.com if you wanna talk more..

Any songs that have meanig to YOU can be used. Just make sure you check with the clergy if you are using them in the church. Some do not allow secular music no matter how wonderful.

My son (lead guitarist for Patient Zero) used the song Tumeni Notes by guitarist great, Steve Morse, for their recessional.
And, a 'down home' gal I know had George Jones', "Picture Me Without You" played during her ceremony.

How about.................

Love will keep us alive-Eagles.
Natural High-Merle Haggard
From this Moment-Shania Twain
Could I have this Dance-Anne Murry
You & I-Eddie Rabbit
Endless Love-Lionel Richie
I Cross My heart-George Strait
How do you fall in love-Alabama

Do you mean for the reception? If so, just tell the dj the type of music you like and he should be able to take it from there - you don't need to plan each song. Good luck!
