I live in an apartment so though I could paint I'm not going to so my walls are white and my carpet is light, the couches that I've found that I like so far are light green, light tan, and a little bit darker tan but I'm open to other colors so feel free to give your input!!

Renting an apartment presents a quandary from an interior design standpoint; however, there are many things you can do to get that pulled together look!

First of all the sofa - pick the one that you like the best (ie. comfort, style, size, etc). The colors that you have described will all work.

Here's the key to pulling it all together. Say you decide on the light green sofa....Start by finding a large scale wall hanging (could be fabric, could be a canvas print) with lots of color....say with a splash of red. Next choose some interesting red accent pillows and maybe a throw to put on your light green sofa (red and green are complimentary colors). Finally, accessorize with red accents (pottery, tables lamps, candles, etc.) Although your walls will be neutral you can add great depth and interest by using color with your furniture and accessories! Good luck and have fun!

You need some color or your place will look blah. Use the darker tan and get some colorful throw pillows in bright shades like peacock blue or orange. Pick up the accent colors with colorful prints on the wall and curtains.

I'd go with a very dark color to contrast against the walls and carpet. A dark chocolate brown or burgundy would be very nice if your walls and carpet lean towards an off white. Good Luck!

Any old color will do in the large stuffed pieces as long as they are all in the same tone of colors...if you can dress yourself you can dress a room...pick an outfit you like and do the room in a simialr way...use pillows, art, throws, lamps, or even a something like a small chair or table to punch up the color...frankly with the tan-beige-brown family(I consider those all to be the same thing) to go with gold or green or blue to punch it up would be fine..well, actually "I" would go with orange or PUMPKIN...but, hey, that is just me.

i go with darker tan to offset the lighter colors in the room, otherwise the couch will only fade away in the room

With white walls I just think that any colour will match it.Anyway,if I were you I would choose something light brown or any other colour.Personally I don't like cold colours like blu, green or similar. They are just so common in places like hospitals and institutions.
