Advil would be fine to take, over the counter pain meds will not affect the effexor

I take Effexor and several other prescription drugs. There are not many things that would actually harm you.

I've never heard of an antidepressant making it unsafe to take OTC pain meds (unless maybe it was an MAOI, which Effexor is not.)
Asking the doctor and pharmacist is a good idea to be certain.
