On a clear night the naked eye can see about 4,500 stars, so the astronomers say. But in the colossal dimensions of the cosmos our stellar system is only a tiny part of an incomparably larger stellar system, one might say, containing some 20 galaxies within a radius of 1,500,000 light-years. And even this vast number of stars is small in comparison with the many thousands of spiral nebulae disclosed by the electronic telescope.. How many stars in this truly "astronomical" figure have an atmosphere suitable for life?
The idea that life can flourish only under terrestrial conditions has been made obsolete by research. It is a mistake to believe that life cannot exist without water and oxygen. Even on our own earth there are forms of life that need no oxygen. They are called anaerobic bacteria. A given amount of oxygen acts like poison on them. Why should there not be higher forms of life that do not need oxygen?

Of course it is possible. When you consider the sheer size of the universe you would have to be a bit slow in the head not to at least acknowledge the possibility that we are not alone in the universe.
For all we know we have been visited by life from outside our system or galaxy and they said "Hmm, No planetary government, wars based on monetary greed, ignorance, religion and skin color, pollution of their ecosystem" "Mark this as a Trailer Trash Planet and set a warning beacon outside their system, this level of stupidity might be cause by some unknown contaminate"

How small of mind can we be to think God's limitations are so small to only create human life on this one little planet. I would like to think of Earth as a stepping stone to better worlds. That is why we have reincarnation so we can progress to more advanced planets. That each life is a different grade we pass or fail to more loving planet or a one with less caring ( like the one we are on now). I happen to think the Creator to be immense and has no limitations for his children. Peace and love be with you.

I think it's selfish to think that we are the only ones in this whole universe...Yea, like the research found...maybe beings dwelling on another planet could not survive in our atmosphere... It could be too hot for them...or maybe too cold... Or sunshine, or whatever. I think that we evolved to live in this environment; who's to say some 300000 light years away from us, other beings didn't evolve to live in an environment much different than our own... Good question!

It has to do with two things, and they are both unfortunate characteristics of man. One is his egocentricity, which allows him to see himself as the only thing of importance and the other is his collective lack of vision. While there are indeed visionaries in this world, they are the exception and sadly they are ignored unless cataclysmic evidence smacks them in the face, preventing them from ignoring it any longer. That's the short answer.

whether you believe in creation or the odds of evolution from a puddle of goo into all these things you are and see, then it is a stupid person who would arrogantly even subject the thought processes to an idea that we are the only living sentient beings in the cosmos.

In my perspective, the minority of visible humans comprise the LEAST living beings in the universe.
Teaching unconditional acceptance will change all that...

Have you seen this website with the "Drake Equation?" If not check it out. It allows you to enter figures that "guestimate" intelligent life out there.
Cheers, mate.

The truth is all forms of life are created equal. It would be far fetched to think we are the only ones.
