As an Illinios transplant I see no valid reason for not allowing hunting on Sunday. It is really starting to tick me off, it seems the deer even know it's Sunday. Patiently waiting for a buck this year - dozens of does and one medium six point seen almost every weekend. What do I see today (Sunday) but a monster twelve that I can't take. Almost six weeks into the season and the only time I see this beast is on Sunday. Is the Sunday Hunting ban in PA tied to "blue laws" around the country? You belong with the family and/or in church instead of hunting? I can't see it being a part of population management, at least not in my area as available doe tags continue to increase every year. At least I got a couple pictures of it and now I know what I'm waiting for. A working man can only hunt one day a week, which makes traveling anywhere less appealing. I think the state could make more money on tags/licenses and the hunting economy would prosper (resturants, hotels, motels, etc)

In an area where everyones claims the economy to be poor, this would be simple way to boost many small comunities revenue. Seems like the state is missing the boat on this one.

I'll be out there next Saturday looking for this beast again, but I'm sure he will join me for breakfest on Sunday and I don't mean on my plate. I hope someone ca nshed some light on this for me.

Thanks

That is silly. I just got back from deer hunting on Sunday. As for the church thing that is wrong to actually Saturday is the sabbath according to the bible. Being the last day of the week and all. But, I am from Louisiana. I can not answer your question per se. But, I am sure with enough support you could get the law changed to something more managable. Like a morning hunt. Not all people believe sunday is a day of rest..It is a day I get away from family and friends.

Sorry to hear about this crazy law. About as bad as our Liqueor Law...cant by it on sunday but church nuts say it is ok to buy beer and wine...something to do with all the ancient church goers had and could drink go figure

Actually if you feel like hunting here in PA on sundays, you can, it's only a couple of things. Coyotes, foxes, and crows. You shouldn't be allowed to hunt anything else on Sundays because it is a day we should just rest and be with family. I am not religious, I just believe there should be one day with only certain kinds of hunting. I hunt coyotes just about every week.

It all has to do with religion bud. That is considered the lords day and they don't have hunting in PA because of that reason.
