What does that mean, or say about them?

Of course, I know that there are many lessons to be taught, and it's not all about sin. However, is it really a good thing to leave it totally out?

It can be an uncomfortable subject but necessary to show people of their need for Jesus Christ. It's either time for a talk with him or time to look for a new church... Jim

perhaps the preacher is so prayed up he does not find himself tempted much so sin is not something he deals with much and thus it is not a subject likely to come to mind while preparing.

The very best preachers avoid this problem by going through the Bible in some order, and using the expository type of preaching. If a preacher is a good speaker then often what happens is they can make any subject interesting and so preach on what interests them, which is fine if you are on the same path as the preacher is. Most however will not be and whether or not what he is teaching is sound and even right on the mark then only a small group will get great benefit from his subjects. If he uses the Bible as a guide he will cover everyones needs in time.

Wow--that doesn't seem possible! Maybe ask them outright? If you do not feel the Holy Spirit at this church or if you sense the church is lacking something as important as preaching about the dangers of sin--then find a new church home. What you also need to look for is does the Pastor teach out of the Bible? If he does not teach out of the Bible, if you are not getting spiritually fed, then find another church.

NEVER?? Then I would say he's missing a big part of the Gospel.

What does it say about them ???

Usually it means that the pastor is afraid of "offending somebody" or stepping on their toes - or "preaching a negative" Gospel.

But good preaching, by definition, must tell the straightforward truth - and that means an occasional honest discussion of sin.

What do you want it to say? Have you talked with your pastor? Maybe it says that s/he is going to let you and God figure out what is right for you. Do you need your pastor to point out to you what is wrong or sin? Or are you hoping that sin will be preached to correct some one else? Do you sit in Church with anger in your heart because your pastor is not preaching about some problem that your poor brother or sister has and you resent it? I appeal to you Beloved of God. Just love. Love your pastor, really love her/him. Love those that you think are doing wrong or sinning. Let love rule your heart. In my humble opinion, I think it speaks well of your pastor. It is not her/his job to be the police or judge and God knows that we have enough people condemning others. The last place we need it is at Church. A place we come to rejoice, to be uplifted, to be encouraged. Not judged. Not condemned. Besides, how do you know that your pastor isn't addressing it in private to those that need to hear about their sinning? Oh Beloved, open your heart and love. "By this shall all men (and women) know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" - Jesus.

Love ya,

I couldn't say specifically about any person but in general a Pastor who teaches well but doesn't preach about sin is known as an "ear tickler", one who preaches a "feel good, gospel lite", less filling, tastes good. Such a teacher is more interested in pleasing men than in pleasing God. They don't fulfill the mission of a teacher by preaching the whole counsel of God's Word and they will have to give an account of that to God on judgment day. Here is what the Apostle Paul wrote in comparing himself to such men.

1 Corinthians 4:1 This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. 4 I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. 5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.

Most likely they are ecumenical and believe in once saved always saved.
If you invited a non believer to that church and they never heard about the wages of sin is eternal damnation etc etc. than what good would it be for them to even attend, but to go to some lovey dovy self help everyone is ok, teaching.
Good question. Most people are decieved because pastors want to keep the $$$ people in church and so are made to feal good about them selves, when in fact we are wicked without God.

either they are misdirected regarding sin or they choose to tickle the ears of the congregation, they are afraid to loose church members or afraid to offend people.
Sin needs to be preached- Jesus said "go and sin no more" He constantly warned against sin, Paul constantly preached to the church, not the world regarding sin- It is important and if you skip over the consequences of sin then you cannot effectively preach God's grace and mercy and Jesus and His ministry will have that much less value.

There are many lessons to be taught, not just about sin.

That they are trying to teach people HOW to live, rather than how NOT to live.

Many preachers are taught in seminary to "not preach negatives".

If the church is thriving and people are happy there, why worry about his motives? If you suspect him of sin, ask him about it.
