Yes it's possible to become addicted to codein (your spelling is codin) in any type of medication if there is a possibility of the person taking the cough med. has been addicted to other narcotics. There are many cough meds. available without codein that work just as well. A good Pharmacist can be a great resourse for all medications and can print out information about any med. if needed. My advice is: If this is for a child a narcotic such as this is not good even if prescribed by a Physician.

Codeine is not in all cough syrups. Check the ingredients label. Dextromethorophan is quite effective and not addictive.

You can become dependant upon codeine. But it only comes in doctor prescribed medicines. You aren't going to find it your Vicks or Robitussin. When people become dependant off of OTC cough syrups, its mostly likely due to the alcohol. Its a small amount, but alcohol none the less.

Yes, and you are also drinking cough syrup. Too much will really mess you up inside. Badly! That is why there is a measuring cup and DEFINITE instructions as when to take it.

Do you mean codeine? It can be addictive, but in 50 years I have only seen one codeine addict. Most narcotic containing syrups are Rx only.

yeah, sadly there are lots of cases where people become addicted to cough syrup, but i wouldnt go using it to become addicted to it, causes serious problems if abused.
