Yes, parish priests get a stipend from the parish where they work. They also get room and board, health insurance, and retirement.

All parish salaries come from the Sunday collections unless the parish is extremely poor and receives subsidies from the diocese.

With love in Christ.

There are two types of priests: dioceasan and those that belong to a religious order. Most religious orders require their priests to take a vow of poverty, which means they relinquish all worldly possessions. These priests receive stipends for their services that go towards their order's greater fund. In return, they get periodic spending money but all their needs are taken care of.

Dioceasan priests recieve an actual salary, which is a percentage of the weekly collections. Smaller parishes pay their pastors less than larger parishes. However, many of their expenses are already paid for so they essentially make quite a good chunk of change at the end of the day.

Roman Catholic Priests and Nuns get paid a stipend, which is quite little, in keeping with their Vows of Piety and Poverty.

It is, of course, an accepted thing that they, too, need to spend money to live.

The sources for this stipend are different and are organized by the Church Administration which accounts for all the money received by the Church from Charity and it's other sources such as rents from the Real Estate holdings.

I hope that Answers your question, Sir.

Have a nice day.

Catholic priests are alloted a "meager" salary from the dioceses and the funds for the salary come out from the church where the priest is. The priest however, does live at the church for free (not paying any rent, which is considered part of the priest's salary.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

Most Catholic priests get a stipend or allowance from the money given to the local church by their parishoners.
Some priests or parishes may also get financial support from religious orders, or charitable trusts, particularly parishes in poorer areas.

Do you mean "Roman Catholic"?? If so, I don't know how they get paid.

I am a Catholic Priest, not a "Roman" Catholic Priest - but, I am paid monthly, in the form of a "housing allowance" - paid by my parish.

One of there vows is the vow of poverty and they do receive something but not a real lot, just enough to survive. The money collected at masses is not for there personal use but for the maintenance of the church and other things that are concerned with the church. My brother is a Priest and his income never exceeds 4 thousand a year, but his church's responsibility is in the 10's of thousands. His parishioners donate things to him, food, clothing, and incidentals. The place where he stays the Rectory is taxed just like any other house.

They do get an allowance as in a living allowance. Some may also have a bit of money from family.
