King Charles Spaniels?

Question

if you wanted a family dog that is quite small, and not big, does not bite, nice with kids, and learns very easily would charles king spaniel be the right dog? if not, would you suggest any other choices?

Yes! Thats the perfect dog! You just have to housetrain them and walk them for about 5 minutes. If you don't like that dog, well.. golden retrievers are good as long as you get a female and a trainer for a couple of lessons on not chewing shoes. Labradors and Retrievers can also swim in case you have a pool-they smell really weird after that lol. Get a female (in both cases!) here are a few names I really like but never got to use on my dogs because it was too hard to pick so I picked out of a hat:

-lulu
-paws
-plopper
-puddles
-charlie (king CHARLES spaniel,lol)
-prince/princess (as far as I know, kings are royalty...)

I'm not sure if you are refering to the King Charles Spaniel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Charles_Spaniel or the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel http://www.akc.org/breeds/cavalier_king_charles_spaniel/index.cfm - but the Cavalier is a very good family dog - very mellow and sweet, not a hyper barking little dog. I have never personally met any King Charles Spaniels, they are not as popular in the US as they are in the UK. They sound nice, though.

Well they are bred to hunt and spaniels are usually hyper so you might want to go with a Bischon or one of the non hunting breeds. I know someone with a mini dachshund and its just so adorable and its small and friendly.

a miniture poosle are good family dogs but you must plan on getting it groomed regularly. They do not shed
